A bit about Barb

Hi, my name is Chaplain Barb Wray.

I have been certified as a Grief Recovery Method Specialist with The Grief Recovery Institute since 2004. Most recently I added the 1-on-1 online advanced training and life coaching to my tool belt. It has opened up the world, because I can now share these tools face to face with anyone who has an internet connection. My wish is that I had these tools decades ago.

My childhood was surrounded by a great deal of trauma that included alcoholism, perfectionism, narcissism, divorce and more. Talking about things was not encouraged, probably because their pain was overwhelming for them too. Being an only child, I was expected to be perfect, quiet and entertain myself. I did not realize then that I had taken in the belief that I was less than and unworthy, or that it would shape who I trusted, even God. It took me many years to learn that God's love is perfect and unconditional.

In life we tend to attract what we believe is normal rather than healthy. When mentors came into my life, more healing took place, but it took hard work.

In 2003 a friend introduced me to Grief Recovery.

I was very hesitant to go. When I arrived I felt safe with the leader and the participants, and I started to realize how much I was carrying in my heart, with the many losses I had experienced. To avoid criticism I had learned to stifle crying about two years earlier, and now I was able to cry buckets. I was in a safe place where what I felt was heard, and there were actual tools for the many unfinished relationships I so longed to be different, better or more. My shoulders actually felt lighter.

My healing was so significant that I became certified to lead classes in 2004. The tools did not conflict with my belief system and faith, and they helped me find completion in relationships I wished were different. When leading 1-on-1 classes online became possible in 2018, I was thrilled, because barriers of location and time zones were no longer a factor.

People have talked with me about their heartache, and referred others to me, for decades. Each time I am glad to come alongside, encourage and support. These tools are specific, and I have seen people move forward within a specific time line.

I would be honoured to give you a free, confidential 45 minute consult without any obligation. Share what you like, ask any questions, and we will see if we are a good fit. If we are not, I will try to help you find someone who is, if you would like that.

From a client

After my Dad passed away I was feeling very lost and I didn't know where to turn. One day I went online to research grief therapy, and that's when I stumbled upon Barb's website. ... I truly feel as though God placed Barb in front of me because I was so lost. ... Over the course of several months, Barb helped me to untangle years of trauma and grief that ultimately became too much to bear once my father passed away. I am so grateful for her compassionate and caring nature. ... I feel as though she helped lead me out of the darkness and now I am finally back in the light once more. I encourage anyone seeking wise, caring and compassionate counsel to meet with Barb. Anyone would be lucky to have her walking beside them on their life's journey.
